Cybersecurity recruitment for the United Kingdom
We recruit UK cyber security roles from our base in Cape Town. One or two hours ahead of London, working your hours, at a cost base that is not London’s.
How the arrangement works
Keystone Cyber is a South African firm. We have no UK office and no UK entity, and we would rather lead with that than have you discover it in month two. What we have is a specialist cyber security practice that serves UK clients directly from Cape Town.
The timezone is the practical part. South African Standard Time is UTC+2 — one hour ahead of the UK in summer, two in winter. Our working day covers yours almost completely, so a brief given at 9am in London is being worked the same morning, and candidate feedback does not wait overnight. That is a materially different proposition from an offshore recruitment desk eight hours away.
What we recruit for UK clients
Right to work, stated up front
Every UK shortlist we send states each candidate’s right-to-work position plainly: British or Irish citizen, settled or pre-settled status, existing visa with conditions, or requiring sponsorship. We establish it before shortlisting, not at offer stage. Sponsorship decisions and immigration advice sit with you and your advisers.
Where you are open to hiring remotely from South Africa — which some UK employers are, particularly for security operations coverage — we will tell you what that pool looks like and let you decide. We do not present it as a UK candidate.
Where our UK work concentrates
Most of it is London and the South East, which is where UK security hiring is densest — see London cyber security recruitment. We also work with employers in Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Edinburgh and Cheltenham, and with fully remote UK roles where location is genuinely open.
Common questions
Are you a UK-based agency?
No. We are a South African firm in Cape Town that recruits for UK cyber security roles. We do not have a UK entity or office, and we think you should know that before you engage us rather than after.
Why use a Cape Town firm for a UK role?
Two practical reasons. South African Standard Time sits one or two hours ahead of the UK, so our working day overlaps yours almost entirely — unlike an offshore desk in a distant timezone. And our fee structure reflects a South African cost base rather than a London one.
Do you supply UK-based candidates or South African ones?
Both, and we are explicit about which. For roles requiring UK presence and existing right to work, we search the UK market. Where a client is open to remote hiring from South Africa, we say so and let you weigh it.
Who handles right to work and sponsorship?
You do, as the employer. We establish and document the right-to-work position of every candidate before shortlisting so there are no surprises, but we do not advise on immigration.
Do you handle UK GDPR properly?
Yes. Where we process the information of people in the UK we apply UK GDPR standards alongside POPIA. Our Privacy Policy sets out the detail.
